A 5th Generation Entrepreneur...

Robert earned his BBA from Texas A&M University - San Antonio and his MBA from Texas A&M University – Commerce.  His passion and interest in “Making a Difference and Ensuring Success of Privately-Held Businesses” stems from his roots as a  5th generation entrepreneur coming from a successful farming family.  Even as a manager and executive within several companies, Robert had his own businesses on the side to feed his entrepreneurial spirit and thirst.  Robert directly understands the trials, tribulations and challenges that come with business ownership and the dynamics that exist within family businesses.  With this firsthand knowledge, experience and perspective in hand, Robert and his wife Kelly have chosen to dedicate the coming decades of their lives to guiding all business owners in East Texas to achieve greater success and reduce their trial and error.  This includes guiding family businesses to have wealth-creating exits and successful generational handoffs when that time ultimately comes.

An Accomplished Business Professional...

Robert’s corporate career was focused upon the manufacturing sector starting in 2012 with Trinity Industries, working with the Tank Car division in Longview, TX.  Robert was an integral part in the operational planning that helped Longview’s plants become the most successful in the company, in both the up and down cycle of the industry.  He was fortunate enough to be able to travel to Mexico and work with Trinity plants there as well.   He gained his first lifelong mentors/friends in this role and believes those relationships are invaluable.

In 2016, Robert left Trinity to pursue a career working in a start-up to fulfill his personal desire to “build” and move back toward his entrepreneurial roots stepping into the role of Business Controller for a crane company in Longview, which grew revenue 500% during his time there.  He was able to learn from industry veterans during his tenure and continued his personal and professional growth.  The crane business model was quite capital intensive, and in his role as controller he built CAPEX justifications for multi-million-dollar pieces of equipment.

In 2017, Robert received an offer of employment with an oil and gas startup company in Kilgore, TX.  A true start-up, the company founder had invented an industry-disrupting product that had been launched a few months prior.  Robert was able to secure large lines of credit for the relatively young business operating in the volatile oil and gas space that allowed it to maintain its growth trajectory.  He also helped transition the business and the financial reporting from a traditional manufacturing company to a service company through the identification of Job order software, upgrading the chart of accounts and developing profit and loss statements by region.  The company successfully grew to operate in all major areas, and Robert’s last big project was working through a highly successful sale process with a private equity group from Detroit, MI.

A Devoted Community Member...

Robert then found his long-term future in the ActionCOACH business model and decided to make his passion a career.  Rather than helping individual businesses grow and prosper as an employee, as an ActionCOACH firm owner he can guide hundreds and ultimately thousands of local businesses create breakthrough successes at the same time, and MOST IMPORTANTLY, stay local.  Robert believes the East Texas economy has tremendous potential for success and made the investment in an ActionCOACH firm along with his wife Kelly to build a team of dozens of Certified Business Coaches to become the catalyst for growth and increased business success in the area.
